AI 3D Modeling Integration Comes to Cinema 4D

Artificial intelligence is reshaping digital creativity, and AI 3D modeling is becoming a major tool for designers and artists. Software developer Maxon has announced a strategic partnership with Tencent Cloud to integrate the HY 3D Global AI engine directly into Cinema 4D.

The collaboration was unveiled during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. It introduces a new workflow that allows creators to generate 3D models using text prompts or image references.

The goal of the partnership is to speed up early design processes while keeping artists fully in control of their creative work.

AI 3D modeling integration with Cinema 4D

The new AI 3D modeling system will enable artists to quickly generate base 3D models and UV layouts. Creators can start by entering simple prompts or uploading image references.

Once the base models are generated, artists can refine them inside Cinema 4D using Maxon’s professional tools. Designers can sculpt details, apply textures, animate characters, and produce final renders.

The AI engine serves primarily as a starting point for creative exploration. It helps artists move quickly through early concept stages before applying their own artistic vision.

Maxon executives emphasized that the technology is meant to assist rather than replace human creativity.

AI 3D modeling designed to support artists

Maxon CEO David McGavran explained that the company’s mission remains focused on empowering creators.

According to McGavran, AI tools can help artists experiment faster and explore new visual ideas. However, the creative direction and authorship always remain in the hands of the artist.

Maxon’s Chief Technology and AI Officer Philip Losch also highlighted the importance of responsible AI development. He noted that the company is not building autonomous systems that generate finished artwork.

Instead, the AI 3D modeling tools are designed to accelerate certain parts of the creative workflow while allowing artists to maintain full control.

Importantly, the integration will remain optional. Artists who prefer traditional modeling techniques can continue using existing workflows without AI assistance.

AI 3D modeling expands creative industries

Cinema 4D is widely used across several creative industries. These include film production, visual effects, broadcast graphics, advertising, product visualization, and game development.

The introduction of AI 3D modeling could significantly improve efficiency for artists working under tight production schedules.

Creators can generate rough models quickly and then refine them into polished assets. The models can also be enhanced using Maxon’s broader ecosystem of tools.

For example, artists can sculpt detailed characters using ZBrush, apply lighting and textures within Cinema 4D, and render scenes with the Redshift engine.

This integrated workflow allows creators to transform early concepts into professional-quality digital content.

AI 3D modeling partnership with Tencent

The collaboration also reflects a long-standing relationship between Maxon and Tencent.

Tencent has previously used Maxon technologies in its game development pipelines. However, the new partnership marks the first time Tencent Cloud’s artificial intelligence tools will be integrated directly into Maxon’s creative software.

The HY 3D engine itself is trained using Tencent’s extensive library of gaming assets and digital environments.

This large dataset allows the AI system to generate high-quality starting models that artists can modify and improve.

Future release of AI 3D modeling tools

Maxon confirmed that the AI 3D modeling integration will be introduced later in 2026.

Additional technical details and release timelines are expected to be announced closer to launch.

Industry observers believe the integration could significantly influence digital content creation workflows. As AI tools continue to evolve, they are likely to become increasingly common in design and visual effects pipelines.

For creators using Cinema 4D, the new AI-powered modeling features could provide faster ideation while preserving artistic freedom.
