Italy curling comeback headlines mixed doubles action at the Milan Cortina Winter Games after the defending champions delivered a dominant response against Switzerland. The Italian pair rebounded from an earlier setback to secure a convincing victory that reaffirmed their status as one of the tournament favorites.
After suffering a loss to Canada in the previous session, Italy entered Friday’s matchup determined to regain momentum. Stefania Constantini and Amos Mosaner quickly set the tone, using precise shot placement to take an early three-point lead in the opening end.
Switzerland responded strongly, scoring three in the second end and stealing another point in the third to briefly move ahead. However, that surge proved short-lived. From the fourth end onward, Italy curling comeback efforts took full control of the match.
The Italians produced a four-point fourth end, followed by consecutive steals of three and two points in the fifth and sixth ends. Switzerland, represented by Yannick Schwaller and Briar Schwaller-Hürlimann, were unable to recover as Italy closed out a 12–4 victory with authority.
With the win, Italy improved to 2–1 in the standings and remains firmly in contention for the knockout stages. The team is scheduled to return later in the day to face Estonia in the next session. Switzerland, now 2–2, will resume competition on Friday morning against Sweden after a brief break.
Elsewhere in mixed doubles play, Great Britain continued its perfect start with a controlled win over Sweden. Jennifer Dodds and Bruce Mouat built an early lead and never relinquished it, improving to 4–0 at the top of the standings.
Despite Sweden holding a slight edge in shot accuracy, Great Britain capitalized on three stolen points in the second end. Mouat led the defensive effort with eight takeouts, sealing another strong performance for the unbeaten leaders.
As the mixed doubles tournament unfolds, Italy curling comeback performances and Great Britain’s consistency are shaping an increasingly competitive race for medals at Milan Cortina.
